One of our classmates, Mike Grow, passed away sometime Thursday. I called Ramsey Funeral Home to confirm before emailing you. His body is at Ramsey Funeral Home, however, no arrangments have been made yet. I will let you know additional info, if and when I hear.
Please remember Mike’s family in your prayers.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of my former classmates a very Merry Christmas! I’m thankful to have you back in my life again. The 1973 GCHS class is awesome, but the 1973 GCHS gals are the greatest! I have enjoyed our get-togethers and I’m looking forward to continuing our gatherings. I encourage those of you who live in the area to stay in touch and make sure we have a good email address for you so we can let you know when we plan the next fun day out. Speaking of fun – we are planning an ornament exchange for January 4th at 6:00 p.m. at Rhonda Ellis’ house. If any of you gals want to join us, we’d love for you to come. Just bring an ornament and an appetizer. Let me know if you need more information and I’ll keep you in the loop.
On a much more somber note, I just received an email from Cindy and Sheryl about Ricky Ray. It seems he isn’t doing so well at the moment. Prayers for him are coveted. Cindy writes, “I’m not sure if our Class is aware that Ricky Ray was taken to Ephraim McDowell over the weekend and transferred to UK Lexington (the former Good Sam) hospital on Monday. They are running several tests to determine what the problem may be. Please post this on your Class of 1973 blog and ask everyone to pray for Ricky, along with his family, during this difficult time.” Sheryl writes, “Please remember Rick in your prayers and pass the word along that he is pretty bad again. Sent from Danville Hospital to Good Sam with pretty much the same symptoms that he had two years ago when this all started.”

Just wanted to let you know, Chris and Beverly Newton Gifford’s twenty-eight year old son died suddenly last week.
I was at the funeral home tonight and there were so many people in line – I waited two hours, and when I arrived at the front of the line, there were still people waiting. It was nice to see some of you tonight, but I sure hate that it was at a time such as this.
If you get the chance, drop a card in the mail, send an email, make a phone call or leave a comment here and let Bev and Chris know you are thinking of them and if you are sending prayers up for them, let them know that too.
If you need their contact info, send me an email and I’ll get it too you.

What a wonderful day we had – the twelve of us. Meeting at the Christian Health Care Center, we visited Ricky Ray for a while and took him a Pizza. He seemed to enjoy the visit and we hope his day was a little brighter after our visit. Later, we piled into three vehicles and headed to Harrodsburg to have lunch at the Eddie Montgomery Steakhouse. The meal was nice, the steakhouse large and amazing, but our time together laughing, talking and visiting with each other was the greatest part of the day.
Beverly’s mother joined us and we were certainly glad she did. She volunteered to become our photographer for the day. When the meal was finished and Dora Sue had her dessert, (smile) we met out on the porch and had a photo session. You can see them below. We wore out our photographer – having her take pictures with the eight or so cameras we brought.
We would like to invite any of the girls who gradutated from GCHS in 1973 to join us in our future outings. We post the information here, on facebook and in emails. If you want to be kept in the know, please send me your email address and I’ll make sure to include you in the circle. If you are aware of anyone (girls) who may have graduated with us in 1973, but is not in the pictures below, pass the info on to them. We would appreciate it very much.

FALL FLINGSad news to report. Angela Feldman-Harkins’ brother passed away. Robert Feldman was the owner/operator of Feldman Flooring in Lancaster, Kentucky for twenty years or more. We offer our condolences to Angela and her family.

The group in the slide show at the bottom of this post consists of eleven of the girls (yes, we know that now we are old women!) of GCHS 1973 graduating class, who met Saturday, April 10, 2010 in Berea. After our last class reunion a couple of years ago, Many of us vowed to keep in touch. We plan get togethers often and enjoy recalling those days when we roamed the halls of GCHS. This weeks visit to Boone Tavern was in honor of the late Mrs. Phelfry. This is a place where our former teacher took us girls to teach us table manners. In some ways she would have been proud, in others she might have been dissapointed. Especially if she had seen us struggling over which fork to use to eat the spoon bread or the arms and elbows we unconciously placed on the table. Our inability to sit quietly with our hands folded in our laps as we waited for our food, was unlike the visit with our teacher. We would not have dared to laugh out loud or talk as we did on this trip. Our group enjoyed the food, a tour and time spent on the veranda enjoying the sunshine and each other’s company. Just to let you know, I reccomend the fried bologna sandwich and potato chips. It was scrumptious!
Many of our classmates couldn’t make it because of other commitments for the day. We will keep everyone posted when our activity director, Sheryl plans another outing.

Boon Tavern
Saturday, April 10th all ladies of the GCHS graduating class of 1973 are invited to a gathering at Boone Tavern. The catch though is that we have to know that you are interested in attending. We will meet at 11:00 a.m.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday! Dress tastefully casual! (with good walking shoes)! You can pull up Boone Tavern Dining, Berea, KY on the web and see the menu and the tiny number after the entries are the prices!
For those of you who will be in Lancaster or will be going through Lancaster, we will meet at the State Farm office on Lexington St. (next to McDonald’s). We have permission to park there. We should meet around 10 AM to head on to Berea. That way we don’t have to worry about extra cars.
Let us know if you need more information and someone will get you hooked up with this month’s activity director, Sheryl!!
